Trust

The golden door opened into a courtyard with a large square pond in the middle. There were golden fish swimming in the green water and large dragonflies flew from lily to lily. The center of the pond had an island with a statue of the king towering above some large ferns.

The whole place was green of perfectly kept plants and smelled of tropical flowers. Small green birds with long bright tails flew over them as they made their way to the left side of the courtyard, finding cover from the hot sun. Marble arches decorated with beautiful mosaic patterns formed a corridor which surrounded the square shaped courtyard.  

‘This place is beautiful. This is beyond anything I could have imagined. Is this what you wanted to show me?’ Ninae gazed upon the woven patterns on the courtyard walls.

‘No, It’s just a bit further, behind the next door. You need to close your eyes until we get there though.’ He said and reached out his hand.’Do you trust me?’

Ninae still didn’t know his name, but felt that she could trust him. But perhaps this was her infatuation for him, clouding her judgement. She had no good memories of being taken towards unfamiliar places, but there was no reason for him to be fallacious.
