Undead Overview
Undead are a highly varied kind, just as diverse in their tendencies as living people are. Though it may be hard to tell the difference between two primal shambling corpses, they do in fact under tight scrutiny exhibit unique traits on even such an elementary level.
All but the most dangerous and powerful undead still utilize the musculature and skeletal structure of the carcass they animate, and as such, the general size and make of the creature can be a good starting point for evaluating it's strength. But exceptions exist.

Welcome to the first of many monthly challenges we'll be holding here at Deviant Academy!
This month we're going to focus on something everyone will -always- need to practice. Anatomy. The human body is incredibly complex and has many different forms. Male, female, young, old, skinny, fat. Then you need to consider perspective, action, and emotion. For this challenge we're going to focus on the basics though. A great way to learn about the human body is to start from the inside and work your way out. Which means skeletal studies, muscle studies, and then finally the skin.
I'm going to break this month into 4 week long periods.

Week 1 - BONES! Get those bone studies done! We're going to study skulls, ribs, pelvis, femurs, and every other bone in the body. You don't need to know the names of all the bones, the point of studying bones

Event One: In Which Winter Outfits Are GivenCatherine: Greetings fellow travelers, now that you've had some time to get accommodated, I believe it is time to get serious! We need to get prepared to go to Aura! Please head down to the Supply building and collect the gear we have kindly supplied for you and then go to the main building for preliminary interviews!

Objective:
This event is mandatory although you have an option of doing either the written prompt or the art prompt. You don't have to both but you must do one or the other.

Skills To-Do List 2012- Learn how to paint digitally. I don't really know how to paint digitally, to be honest with you. That is, to straight-up just paint a picture. My work is very reliant on the technical skill of my line art. This causes my art to be colored like an animation cell, never painted. I fill my colors like flats, then apply shading over that. Never any build-up, the line art always remains in the final. When I do paint, it takes a long time, or I lose interest because it's not coming together as quickly as I'd like. Thus, gotta learn more so I can broaden my abilities to work professionally. I'd kill to be able to do half the things I see lots of game industry concept painters pull.
- Learn how to choose colors better. You all think I'm good with color, but I've been telling you guys for a while now that I'm really not. I color in primaries, usually using just the default photoshop swatch palette, and not making a lot of mixing on the canvas. My mind breaks stuff down in the wr

I'm a sucker for studies lately. I hope I wont bore you all with my studies. If I do, than my excuses, but I tent to make at least 100 of these in 3 months time.
Right now I just uploaded number 5 and I already learned so much about colors, composition and lighting.
Facebook is the first place where I upload these studies, without a title, there people can guess what movie it is from.
The first person with the right answer gets to choose the new movie.
