Calling All San Franciscan / Bay Area Residents!You've probably read briefly in my older journal posts that I wanted to leave Boston and move to San Francisco. Well, back then I just wanted to do that -- but now I'm 95% positive I'm going to be following through on it by sometime around the end of this summer or in the fall.
I know I did a journal post last spring asking about recommendations on neighborhoods to consider choosing for living in, how necessary owning a car is (or maybe just a scooter,) etc -- that was sort of thoughtful information gathering -- but by this time, it's coming much more down to the wire so I've been going nuts on trying to learn as much as I can about the city before I go for good. I'm planning on making a little orientation trip to acquaint myself with the city more than the one very short (hours) long trip I had there some 4 years ago.
I'm actually not really going to downplay this part of why I'm contacting all of you now: I only have one family member and maybe one or two friends at the most already

Upcoming: Genre-Switch Contest!Admit it. How many of you read that at "gender-switch"?
I've figured out the theme for our very first contest: The Genre-Switch Contest! The goal of this is to put your character into a different genre as creatively as possible, adapting their personality and attributes into that genre. For example, if you have a fantasy character you could turn them into a sci-fi character and put them in a sci-fi setting. So instead of using magic, they'd use technology, because that's what their new world dictates, but at the same time they still need to be recognizably the same character. You are free to choose the genre you want. Look to the gallery folders if you want ideas about different genres, but know they aren't the only genres to pick from.
Only one character is allowed per contestant. You can use other OCs as background and secondary characters, but the main focus should be on only one of your characters.

Undead Overview
Undead are a highly varied kind, just as diverse in their tendencies as living people are. Though it may be hard to tell the difference between two primal shambling corpses, they do in fact under tight scrutiny exhibit unique traits on even such an elementary level.
All but the most dangerous and powerful undead still utilize the musculature and skeletal structure of the carcass they animate, and as such, the general size and make of the creature can be a good starting point for evaluating it's strength. But exceptions exist.

Welcome to the first of many monthly challenges we'll be holding here at Deviant Academy!
This month we're going to focus on something everyone will -always- need to practice. Anatomy. The human body is incredibly complex and has many different forms. Male, female, young, old, skinny, fat. Then you need to consider perspective, action, and emotion. For this challenge we're going to focus on the basics though. A great way to learn about the human body is to start from the inside and work your way out. Which means skeletal studies, muscle studies, and then finally the skin.
I'm going to break this month into 4 week long periods.

Week 1 - BONES! Get those bone studies done! We're going to study skulls, ribs, pelvis, femurs, and every other bone in the body. You don't need to know the names of all the bones, the point of studying bones

Event One: In Which Winter Outfits Are GivenCatherine: Greetings fellow travelers, now that you've had some time to get accommodated, I believe it is time to get serious! We need to get prepared to go to Aura! Please head down to the Supply building and collect the gear we have kindly supplied for you and then go to the main building for preliminary interviews!

Objective:
This event is mandatory although you have an option of doing either the written prompt or the art prompt. You don't have to both but you must do one or the other.

Your character arrives at the supply building and now has to pick out their outdoor gear for when they reach the cold north. What do they pick from all the options there? Please draw and either a finished colored piece or a colored comic of what they do picking their outfit or what they choose to wear. Every outfit must have the following:
