The day the world went away, beautiful collaborative painting from *helmighs. Such a tragic, arresting illustration - the emotion is so strong and palpable. (

First off, you'll have to forgive me for taking in my own interpretation on this piece, *helmighs.
I want to stand that this piece is blandly stunning in it's emotion. It is also just utterly enthralling. It's as if the Grim Reaper has come to claim the soul of one of His beloved followers. That coming from what seems to the a white aura, of sorts, coming from the dying man's chest; still coughing up the blood from that of his demise.
The portrait here obviously doesn't need a sense of color; it's dark and gritty to show the exact meaning that's there to be had in it. No need for any telling features of the people and the demon. Just utter simplicity with color where it matters, the blood signifying the end of the man's life just like the exclamation mark signifies the end of exclamations in excited verses. The Day The World Went Away, as it goes.
The scene in front of the people standing around is like that of a dream. They can't see what is taking place with the Reaper and the man, and they probably only see the man on the rain-soaked ground. But, the man's soul is being moved on to another world by the dark overseer.
I want to congratulate and thank *helmighs for sharing this piece with all of us on DA. She is a great artist in her field and I hope she keeps the great work coming. There is, honestly, no reason why I can't give her 5/5 stars for this piece.
As soon as I got premium membership, I remembered this piece, I just had to write a critique on it. This piece is dramatically fantastic, I love the atmosphere, it somehow reflects onto the viewer as to what's happening at this moment, the background from what I can see shows faded silhouettes, this definitely adds to the mysteriousness and leaves it to the viewer to imagine what's going on, at first, the figure being carried reminded me of Alyx Vance from the game series Half Life 2, this made me like it even more, even though it's most likely not her, the rain and the cool colours make it even more dramatic, the rain splashing off the carried figure is immense, overall, it's a brilliant piece, and just as I said, it's "Dramatically Fantastic". Love it beyond a lot of things I've seen. Great job, keep it up.
Thank you so much for contributing this piece to my new group! I really appreciate the support. #SeekersOfWonder (Wanna check out the group? Follow the link to see more amazing work.)
